FAQs
How is Coaching different from Counseling or Therapy?
Coaching is future and goal oriented. We will not spend much time
in the past or ‘diagnosing’ issues, instead we focus on where you are presently
and where you’d like to be in the future whether ‘the future’ is 6 months from
now or 10 years. Coaching is based in action instead of pathology.
Is Coaching right for me? How do I know?
Coaching is probably right for you if you’re ready to do something,
to take action, to set goals and move forward (or just want more out of your already
fabulous life!). Coaching probably won’t work for you if you suspect (or know)
you may be suffering from a chronic mental illness such as depression or anxiety;
these illnesses have deep roots that need to be sorted out before coaching will
be effective. I am not trained to diagnose and treat such conditions though I am
versed on the warning signs and will suggest other methods of treatment as appropriate.
How will I know if working with Alicia is the right choice for me?

. This short session will give you an idea of my style of coaching to see if it
is in tune with your personality. It’s always recommended to find a coach that
fits who you are to maximize the benefits of your coaching relationship.
How long do coaching relationships last?
Coaching relationships vary depending on each client’s specific goals.
The average coaching relationship lasts 6-18 months. The first 3 months establish
the coaching relationship and can be frustrating for clients as they climb towards
their goals because backsliding into old habits or ways of thinking is common.
This is why it is important that clients are willing to make long-term commitments
in order to work past whatever is holding them back to achieve the goals they’ve
set. Some people find the benefits of coaching to be a necessity as they grow and
change so they maintain their coaching relationships throughout their lives.
How does it work, exactly?
Most coaching is done over the phone, as this is most convenient for
peoples' busy lives. Phone sessions also allow clients who live a great distance
away access to the benefits of coaching with me.
